Skateboarding expansion as far as… the far East ?.
Once upon a time a 4 wheel toy called skateboard, that soon became a very serious sport, a whole lifestyle…from the far West to the far East…
Invented by surfers from Dogtown in the 60’s, skateboard with its unlimited possibilities for tricks soon became the fastest growing sport in the world. From a bunch of pionneers, estimations gave more than 1 million skateboarders only for the United States in 2006 with hundreds of skateparks. It has now spread through Europe and it reached Ukraine, just take a look here..
Skateboard appeared in France and Europe during late 60’s as a new fashionable thing from the US. Everybody thought it’s expansion was temporary and would end up like yo-yo or hula-hop, trends whitch don’t last for long. This time, the level is higher, altough the last one was great in content, this one is a pro team on it’s tour, the Lakaï tour in Russia - great tricks, good shots, amazing spots !! to be seen, definitely !
Skateboard business has now become very significant. It has hundreds of trade marks from many countries, hundreds of millions of dollars benefit and it covers a very wide range of products and services, from the actual deks, wheels and skateboard stuff, to a wide range of fashion clothes associated with it, through building of skateparks, in cement or wooden ramps. One particularity : skateboarding fashion is wide spread and worn by much more people than the skaters themselves from 12 till 40 years old and more…
Now, this video begins pretty scary with big jumps and slams from that russian guy. Sometimes it hurts, but when he pulls his tricks after a moment, it becomes magic to see how fast the East can learn. Big up to you mister Vlad Esaulkov staring for the Imagination 2 video here ! Keep safe !
In fact, skateboard expansion never stopped, but always grew and spread from a country to another, all around the world. It’s now in Russia, where some skaters already have style, good level. It’s only a beginning as skateboard developpement will still be growing, growing… Actually, all pro teams already whent through the Est to Moscou and St Petersburg to promote their products. Practically all famous skateboarding trade marks are already being distributed there. As another sample, this very nice peace from Rel Bull 2006 tour to Russia.
I hope you enjoyed it, as it changes from cooperation and sustainable wealth. Although this amazing translation or movement of skateboarding throughout the world could be a mean of communication between men and urban places, who knows…to be continued…
